Gain the knowledge and skills to install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Hands-on, practical training teaches electrical theory and controls, basic plumbing, and welding and soldering using oxy acetylene torches.
Potential Career Paths
HVAC Installers are responsible for putting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems into residential and commercial properties. HVAC Installers must have the specialized knowledge, mechanical skills, physical strength and manually dexterity to put these systems into place, and must also be capable of troubleshooting, time management, and working in a team.
HVAC Refrigeration Technicians are responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of the refrigeration and cooling systems in homes or places of business, such as a restaurant kitchen, grocery store, or a home that is under construction. These professionals know how to install and repair these systems and may be tasked with performing upgrades, replacing parts or working with new units.
A/C Technicians are HVAC/R specialists; they specialize in the installation, repair, and maintenance of air conditioning systems, particularly those with more complex computer control systems.
HVAC Engineers plan and coordinate every aspect of an HVAC system installation. HVAC engineers can conduct performance evaluations of existing systems and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, as well as design climate control systems for new construction.
An Automotive HVAC Tech is a specialized worker, knowledgeable about both HVAC systems and automotive technology. All cars today have automotive HVAC systems, and these professionals are responsible for keeping all the parts working smoothly and efficiently to maintain interior comfort and air quality for passengers.
The solar power market is rapidly growing, and the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment for Solar Technicians will increase by 51 percent between 2019 and 2029. This sector of the HVAC/R industry will open up excellent job opportunities for qualified individuals, particularly those who have completed a photovoltaic training program.
There is increasing demand for Wind Turbine Technicians as demand for renewable and green energy continues to grow, and the number of wind turbines and wind farms increases. These specialized technicians climb wind turbine towers to inspect or repair equipment, perform routine maintenance, test and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components and systems, and replace worn or malfunctioning components.
